Aworis Urges President Muhammad Buhari To Chose A Replacement For Kemi Adeosun From Them

By: Orepo Feyisayo

Calls has started emanating from well meaning Awori indigenes to President Muhammad Buhari to look into their direction for the replacement of  former minister of finance, Mrs Kemi Adeosun.

One of such calls was made public by an All Progressive Congress Chieftain in Ogun State, and the Ayelu of Igbesa land, High Chief T.K Aina.

Chief Aina made this known via his social media account on Thursday when he called on President Muhammad Buhari to as a matter of urgency, find a possible replacement for Mrs Kemi Adesoun who last week, resigned her position as Minister of Finance following her NYSC discharge certificate scandal. The Aiyelu of Igbesa land, while quoting section 14 (4) of the Nigerian 1999 constitution as amended, said that federal character ought to reflect in the President’s appointment for equity sake, adding that Aworis from Ogun West had been at the receiving end of marginalization in terms of federal appointments.

“What is next for Ogun State after the exit of Mrs Kemi Adeosun from Federal Executive Council as a representative? There must quickly be a replacement, more particularly from Awori in Ogun West Senatorial District in conformity to Section 14 (4) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The section states thus: The composition of the Government of a State, a local government council, or any agencies of such Government or council or such agencies shall be carried out in such a manner as to recognize the conduct of the affairs of the Government or the council the diversity of the people within its area of authority and the need to promote a sense of belonging and loyalty among all the people of the Federation”.

Chief T.K Aina reiterated that there are able and well qualified persons in Awori land who has distinguished themselves in their chosen career and can perfectly fit in to the shoes which the ousted minister left behind.

It will be recalled that Aworis in Ogun West were shortchanged in the consensus arrangement of the Executive Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, having zoned both the Governorship and Senatorial tickets to Yewa part of Ogun West. The replacement of Mrs Adesoun, however, will palliate the scars that the arrangement of Senator Ibikunle Amosun left in the mind of the people of Awori land.
