Ex-convict, Three Others Arrested For Robbing Trader In Agege

Members of a four-man gang have been arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly robbing a trader, Kehinde Adegboyega, at gunpoint in the Agege area of Lagos State.

It was gathered that the suspects, Nurudeen Gbadamosi, 23; Emmanuel Akinlabi, 30; Ramon Raheem, 30; and Samuel Elem, 33, attacked the victim while he was driving home.

Our correspondent learnt that Adegboyega was robbed of his Toyota Camry car, HP laptop, two pairs of shoes and a gold necklace.

One of the suspects was arrested at the point of selling the car.

The police prosecutor, Michael Unah, told the court that the other suspects were arrested after further investigation.

The prosecution alleged that the accused committed the offences on October 2, 2018.

Unah said one of the suspect, Akinlabi, had been jailed in the past for drug-related offences.

He told the court that the accused were notorious for highway robberies and sale of stolen vehicles.

The accused were arraigned on two counts of conspiracy and armed robbery.

The police prosecutor said the offences contravened sections 299 and 297 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The charges read in part, “That you, Nurudeen Gbadamosi, Emmanuel Akinlabi, Ramon Raheem and Samuel Elem, while armed with a gun, did rob your victim of a gold necklace valued at N76,000; HP laptop valued at N130,000; two pairs of Italian shoes valued at N80,000; and one black Toyota Camry with number plate SZ 759 AAA, all valued at N1,436,000, property of one Kehinde Adegboyega.”

The presiding magistrate, Mr A. A. Fashola, ordered that the suspects be remanded in prison pending advice from the Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecutions.

He adjourned the case till December 12, 2018.
