14th YEAR ON THE THRONE: Olofin Of Isheri Speaks On Awori Traditional Ruling Council
The Olofin of Isheri, HRM Oba Nurudeen Adebowale Adekanmbi has reiterated the need for the creation of the much awaited Awori Traditional Ruling Council.
He said this while speaking at the ceremony to commemorate the his 14th year on the throne. Oba Nurudeen Adekambi, praised the Chiefs, the community leaders, the community as a whole on their support towards his successful tenure as the Olofin of Isheri.
He emphasized on the formation of the Aworis that while migrating from Ile-Ife several centuries ago, they first settled at Isheri which made the ancient town the root of all Aworis. ”The Aworis have their root in Isheri Olofin. Our Forefather, Olofin Ogunfunminire founded Isheri when the mud plate sank on the Ogunfunminire river which is now popular known as Ogun river. Isheri Olofin remain the hisyorical foundation of all Aworis both at home and in the diaspora”. He also added that Aworis cuts across Ota, Igbesa, Ilobi, Ado-Odo, Ibaragun, Gan-un, Agbara, and many others’.’
While fielding questioning from our correspondent on how easy it has been for him since the past 14 years on the throne, he said that Allah’s benevolence has brought him thus far and also that ever since his ascension on the throne, Isheri Olofin has since been witnessing tremendous developments, spanning from physical and socio cultural infrastructures.
Also speaking on the relationship between him and other monarchs in Ogun State, he said that he maintains a very cordial and smooth relationship both with kings within his domain and beyond.
HRM Oba Nurudeen Adekanmbi while responding to the issue of Paramountcy in Awori land, he said, it is known to all and sundry that Aworim land deserved a traditional ruling council so as to unite Awori monarchs who have been divided along geographical and political lines. He added that if paramountcy was to be given to the Aworis, the Olofin of Isheri deserved to be the paramount ruler in that Awori land started from there and it is also his prayer that the Governor of the state, His Excellency, Senator Ibikunle Amosun grants their request.
