“2019 Iganmode Cultural Festival To Improve Social Amenities, Thrive Businesses In Ota”, Olota Says As He Unveils ICF 2019 Logo

The Olota of Ota, HRM (Prof.) Adeyemi Obalanlege Lanlege Ekun II has assured that the Iganmode Cultural Festival 2019 is aimed at making businesses thrive and improving social amenities which is poised at improving the lots of Ota indigenes and dwellers.

Oba Adeyemi said this at a press briefing on ‘Iganmode Cultural Festival 2019’ which was held at his palace on Thursday.

Speaking to newsmen, he said, ‘despite challenges, Iganmode 2019 Festival will hold in a new dimension. We will be holding a dinner where I intend to unveil my vision for Ota. Invitations have been extended to Chief executives of business corporations, former Nigerian President, Dr. Olusegun Obasanjo, Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun and his Deputy, Engr. Noimot Salako. I have also invited my brother, the Olowu of Owu to join us for the dinner.’

He stated further that the purpose of the dinner was to discuss the way forward on the social amenities, especially roads in Ota. ‘Ota is no more a town but a city. It is only in a peaceful environment that businesses can thrive. Therefore, we want to see how the investors in our city can help us achieve this’.

While briefing the press, the Chairman of the central planning committee, Prince Aina Kazeem told newsmen that 2019 Iganmode Cultural Festival intends to grant non-interest loan to indigenous citizens and also offer scholarship and bursary to indigenous students.

He pointed out that, Iganmode Festival has been in existence since 25 years. Explaining that this year’s is the first time in its history where there is a major sponsor for the event.

He emphasized that the festival will boost the socio-economic activities of the community, stressing that the theme for this year’s event is ‘Culture, Economy and Development’.

” Iganmode Cultural Festival which was formerly known as, ‘Iganmode Day’ started 25 years ago. This is the first time in the history of the event that we’ll be having a major sponsor which is Nigeria Breweries with a word class marketing consultant, Omooba Segun Adewale of 24 Zinto Marketing and Activation, Lagos. We believe that this festival will boost the tourism, economic and commercial activities of our people, while our sponsors tend to climb on this for their own economic prosperity”. He said.

He added: “We intend to use this year’s proceeds to grant non-interest loan to our people and also offer scholarship and bursary to indigenous students.”

While speaking on the improvement of indigenous language and culture in Ota, Oba Prof. Obalanlege said, ‘we want to find a way of improving our culture. That’s why the theme for this year is aimed at using technology to upgrade our culture and tradition in the society. We also intend to introduce the ‘Omoluabi Day’ at this year’s Iganmode Festival so as to bring our youths to pace’.

He however stated that, the history of Iganmode Cultural Festival since the past 25 years, would be installed on the internet archive for indigenous and non-indigenous members of the society to stay aware, and should also serve as reference during research.

According to the Chairman of the Committee, the order of event goes thus;

“The Church Service to be held on Sunday 15th December, 2019 in yet to be determined church.

“Seminar and Lecture is being organised for Senior Secondary and Tertiary Institutions’ Students with the theme , ‘Importance of technology for cultural development’ on Monday 16th December, and by evening of that same day, there will be playing of indigenous games at the Olota’s Palace.

“Culture and Traditional Day whereby indigenes will showcase their local foods, dances, poetry competitions and Art exhibitions will come up on Tuesday 17th December.

“Carnival show and Omoluabi day is scheduled for Wednesday 18th December.

“The unveiling of Ijamido Omi Atura project with visit to Ijamido river to collect prosperity calabash (Igba-Aje) which is to be brought back for economic prosperity in Aworiland will hold on Thursday, 19th December, while a final festival football match will hold at AUD Practicing School, St.Micheal’s High School Ota by 4.00pm of the same day.

“The Jumat Service will hold from 1.00pm to 1.45pm at Ota Central Mosque On Friday 20th December.

“The Grand Finale for the event will hold on Saturday 21st December at the Local Govt. Hall.”

The Chairman further pointed that, the Special Guests of Honor for this year’s event include, the Gov. of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun MFR and his Deputy, Engr. Mrs Noimot Salako, Princess Adejoke Orelope- Adefulire, Sen. Olamilekan Yayi, Hon. Ladi Adebutu, Sen. Ayo Otegbola, Sen. Gbolahan Dada and other dignitaries in the society.

The press briefing was well attended by notables which included; the Olota of Ota, Oba Prof. Abdulkabir Obalanlege, the Aso-ju Oba of Ota, Alhaji Ruhola Ajibola Salako, High Chiefs, Newsmen and other concerned citizens of Ota.
