Breaking: Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Presents 2019 Budget Of Consolidation

The Chairman of Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government, Hon. Chief Bashir Oladele Adeniji has on Monday presented a total sum of N821, 493, 310. 70 to the legislative arm of the Local Government.

Hon. Adeniji, while presenting the budget which he called Budget of Consolidation to the house said that the main priority of his administration was better the lots of his people through a widened economic base of the Local Government.

“The main goal and major priority of this administration is to significantly improve the quality of the life of our people and widen the economic base of our Local Government for individual and collective prosperity.”

He said that the 2019 proposed appropriation bill has been fully integrated into the International Public Sector Accounting Standard (IPSAS) to better the lots of his people.

The Chairman listed facilitation of Untra modern shopping complex of 116 lock-up-shops at Joju, Ota, regular maintenance of township roads and median, sinking of motorized borehole at Ago-Ishaga Market, Ota, renovation of Tuberculosis office at the Local Government Secretariat among other projects which were facilitated by his administration in the 2018 budget.

Hon. Adeniji presented a total budget of N821, 493, 310. 70 to the house with expenditures as listed below;

  1. Personnel cost = N126, 207, 945. 74
  2. Allowances = N236, 677, 575. 29
  3. Overhead cost = N209, 507, 843. 75
  4. Capital expenditure = N249, 099, 945. 92

Listing where the source of fund for the budget, the Chairman said that N593, 364, 711. 68 which stands a total of 72% of the budget would be gotten from the statutory allocation from the federation account while the state’s statutory allocation will cover 4% of the budget at N31, 500, 000. 00, value added tax will gulp N37, 143, 052. 42 while internally generated revenue will take care of 13% of the budget at N104, 985, 546. 60.

Speaking with VOA News correspondent shortly after the presentation, the House Leader, Hon. Yomi Jooda said that the house will carefully peruse the budget before passing it. “The house will first of all properly go through the budget and vet it before we can know if it is truly a budget of consolidation as proposed by the Executive Chairman.” He also added that the legislative arm will put the executive on its toes towards ensuring that there is full implementation of the budget, when passed.

The Majority leader of the House, Hon. Azeez Abimbola Olaleye said he believes the budget will the the pains and suffering of the people when passed in that there are lots of capital projects that are captured in the proposed budget.

In an interview with VOA News correspondent on why the 2018 internally generated revenue is higher than the 2019 proposed IGR, the Chairman said that the assets of the Local Government has been shared among the newly created LCDA’S and by implication, some of the revenues which the local government enjoined has to reduce.

He however, expressed confidence that the proposed budget will ameliorate the yearnings of the people if eventually passed.

The event which was well attended had the Ajana of Ijana, HRH Oba Clement Akinyemi, the Onikotun of Otun, HRH Oba AbdulAkeem Odunaro, the BAlogun of Ota, High Chief Isiaka Idowu Balogun, the Ekerin of Ota, High Chief B.A Osunlabu, the Head of Local Government administration, Pastor Mrs Iyabo Ayorinde, the representative of Women wings in the Local Government, Mrs Aroboto, heads of departments in the Local Government, among several others.
