Alhaji Sakirudeen Alagbe, Three Others Bags Chieftaincy Titles In Oruba, Ota

The Akogun of Oruba, HRH Oba Wadud Eniatimo Deinde today conferred chieftaincy tittles on four prominent sons and daughter of the town.

An event that was witnessed by monarchs, chiefs, religious, traditional leaders as well as who is whom in Oruba quarter of Ota saw Alhaji Chief Sakirudeen Alagbe installed as the Bashorun, Chief Mrs Modinat Babasanya as the Otun Iyalode , Chief Taofeeq Adio Babasanya as the Bada, Alhaji Chief Sikirulahi Alagbe as Apogun-Pote of Oruba, Ota respectively .

The Akogun of Oruba, HRH Oba Wadud Deinde, while conferring the titles on the new chiefs, said that they all merited the titles. He emphasized that he did not collect a dime before conferring the titles on them, stressing that their hard works, dedications and the love they have for their community made them to be considered for the various titles.

He advised the newly installed chiefs to see themselves as ambassadors of Oruba as they have now become role models for their peers as well as the youths who will now be closely watching their conducts in the society.

In an interview with the Oluomo of Oruba, Ota, Chief Kabiru Odunsi,

he expressed confidence in the choice of the newly installed chiefs as they all have contributed their quota to the development of the town and as such, the title conferment are not out of place.

He however, charged the new chiefs to see the interest of Oruba as paramount in their day to day dealings.

While speaking with VOA News correspondent, the new Bashorun of Oruba, Alhaji Chief Sakirudeen Alagbe

expressed his satisfaction in his conferment as the first Bashorun of Oruba in that the title ought to have been conferred on him since the time of late Oba Moshood Alani Oyede, the then Olota of Ota.

He said the title of Bashorun is a new title in Oruba as he is the first to have been conferred with such title. He however, saluted the uprightness of Oba Wadud Deinde owning to the fact that some people had lobbied the monarch for the same position, even with money but he was resolute in his decision to make him the Bashorun of Oruba.

In a separate interview with Alhaji Chief Sikirulahi Alagbe, the Apagun-Pote of Oruba, Ota, he expressed happiness in the title he was conferred with, praying God to give him and the newly installed chiefs money and long lives so as to meet the financial needs of their new statuses.

Speaking with VOA News, the newly installed Bada of Oruba, Ota, said that their installation will give birth to new things in the town as it is the dawn of new era.

He lauded the Akogun of Oruba for being a lover of his people and a father of all.

The newly installed Otun Iyalode of Oruba, Ota, who looked stressed while speaking with our correspondent, prayed for new opportunities to come to Oruba now that they have been made chiefs.

The event which was well attended saw the Ajana of Ijana, HRH Oba Clement Akinyemi, Baale of Egushi, Chief Maroof Alagbe, Aro of Ota, High Chief Ezekiel Bamishaiye, Olori Otun of Ota, Chief Wasiu Ogundare, Aare of Otun Ota, Chief Opebiyi JP, Chief Tunji Faluyi, Seriki of Oruba, Ota, Chief Nasirudeen Dehinde among several others gracing the epoch making event.
