Awori Intellectuals Charges Youth To Take The Centre Stage In Governance, Chart A Way Forward For The Aworis In 2019 Elections
In a bid to commemorate the May day celebration of uninterrupted Democracy, the Awori Intellectuals group, gathered to discuss the role of youths in Nigerian politics and the stake of the Aworis in the 2019 General election, laying much emphasis in Ogun state.
The event which was graced by dignitaries and members of the society that has the interest of Awori land at heart later received boost when the members of Youth Next, who are the campaigners of Not to young to run.
While delivering his welcome address, the President of Awori Intellectuals, Prince Olusesi Sulaimon talked about democracy and the role of youths in the development of a country and equally laid emphasis on the fact that youths are too mobile to be ignored in matters of significance of which governance is part of.
He further stressed on the purpose for which the general public were called to deliberate on which is to proffer solutions to the continuous lamentation of the time past. In an attempt to widen the scope of the discuss, Prince Femi Fadina during his speech expressed his joy for being in the midst of energetic young minds who are capable of changing the fate of Awori land and Nigeria as a whole in the next dispensation.
In his speech, he identified some problems which has continuously acted against the success of Awori community as ignorance and idleness of which he however suggested ways, such as; educating members of the community on their basic rights among other things. He however challenged the youths to use their mobility to bring the desired change and called on the leaders to support the youths.
According to the Public Relations Officer of the group who also doubled as the anchor of the event, Prince Saheed Oyede, he said the group which was established over 8yrs ago has contributed their little quota by giving scholarships, educating the younger ones on social vices.
The event was done on the basis of lecture delivery of which Mr. Sukannmi who was the first to speak on the roles of youths in democratic governance emphasized on the importance of working with purpose of existence. He talked on the importance of being useful and impacting on others, he identified being fruitful, growing beyond your status, finding opportunity in every problem as a way of contributing in the development of any Nation.
Another speaker Comr. Bankole Abdulhamid, identified the youths as the body responsible for development in any nation.
He stressed on the need for youths to have political will to drive home their desire, adaptation of language of development and a bloodless revolution politically, culturally and also seeking knowledge from the elites in the political realm.
Princess Feyikemi Banuso appealed to the subconscious mind of the guests as she delivered her own speech in her local dialect which she appeared very comfortable with.
She charged the youths to make a collaborative effort if they want to wrestle power from the hand of the elderly ones that has piloted the affairs of the country since democracy
At the end of the program, members of the public present charged the group to continue their good job and advises were equally given to them on better ways of achieving youth development in the life of a nation.
