It will be recalled that the Baale was given certificate and staff of office by the Onilogbo of Ilogbo, HRH Oba Dr. Samuel Ojugbele, a decision which seemed not to go down well with the Olota in council in that Egushi land is within the boundaries of Ota, Awori land which the stool of Olota oversees.

The Chairman, regency council, High Chief Osunlabu while giving his acceptance speech advised the new Baale to shun every acts which may denigrate the office of the Baale.

High Chief Osunlabu charged the Baale to work assiduously for the interest of Awori land. He admonished the Baale to engage in acts that can further bring development to Egushi and Ota as a whole. He added that he has trust in Chief Alagbe because of the role he played during the inter ethnic tussle between the Aworis and the Owus in 2008 and that his nomination was not countered by anyone. He further charged the Baale to be fair in his judgement as his new position does not allow him to take sides in sensitive issues.

While receiving his letter of appointment from the Balogun of Ota on behalf of Olota in council, Chief Alagbe expressed his heart felt appreciation. He appealed to the Olota in council to overlook his ineptitude for bypassing them in his installation process. He said it was not a deliberate attempt to undermine them but due to the fact that Egushi borders  Ilogbo, Ota and he felt he could only go through the Onilogbo of Ilogbo; being an Oba.

He however pledged his allegiance to the Aworis and that he is a Baale of the Aworis and do not belong to the opposition camp. In his words, “Egushi land has been in existence for over 500 years and my family head felt the need for the town to have a Baale, hence my appointment. Egushi plays host to multinational organisations like Covenant University, The Bells University of Technology, May&Baker industries limited, Living Faith Chapel, a.k.a Winners, Nigerian Building and Road Research Institute among others. Before the end of this year, i will make sure Egushi land has a commercial market, a public health centre and a public school”.

Chief Alagbe hearkened to the request of the Olota in council to provide them a bus which would aid their movement to functions in that most of them are aged and can no longer drive for longer hours. He said that the bus would be made available by the time they arrange that of ‘Egushi traditional council’.

The event which took place at the palace of late Olota of Ota, HRH Oba Moshood Alani Oyede was witnessed by friends and families of Chief Maroof Alagbe and that of Olota in council which includes the Ajana of Ota, High Chief Clement Akinyele, Onikosi of Osi, High Chief Sikiru Anibire, Balogun of Ota, High Chief Balogun, Iyaloja general of Ota, and the Ekerin of Ota, High Chief B.A Osunlabu.
