“Ban On Public Gatherings: Ogun To Ensure Strict Compliance”, Dapo Abiodun

The Ogun state government will ensure strict compliance to the ban placed on gathering of any kind having over 50 individuals in attendance.

This was made known by the chief press secretary to the state governor, Kunle Somorin in a phone conversation with VOA News correspondent shortly after a press release which extended the ban to religious gatherings in the state.

Somorin, when asked if the state government was willing to ensure strict compliance to the ban, especially, religious organizations within the state, said, “Of course, there would be strict compliance to the ban. Task force would be going round to monitor the level of compliance and would ensure that the government’s policy against the spread of the dreaded corvid-19 disease in the state is enforced.

Earlier, the state government, in a press release, extended the ban on public gatherings to private, public schools, as well as religious organizations in the state. The release buttressed that schools across the state should close from Friday, 20th of March, 2020 to avoid the spread of the pandemic disease currently bedeviling the world.

The News Advocate had earlier published that barely 3 days to the next Sunday service, the Living Faith Church, a.k.a, Winners Chapel is yet to make any public declaration on the state government’s ban on religious gatherings.
