The Ogun State chapter of Transport workers union;
NURTW, RUTNI, ACOMORAN, AMORAN, TORAN and TURAN have urged the citizens to disregard rumour of possible outbreak of violence on inauguration day.
In a peace conference held on Monday between the sub-committee on Transport union, a unit under Ogun state transition committee on governance and structures and the six transport workers union in operation in the state, the transport workers union executives present at the meeting told members of the committee to debunk the rumour of possible outbreak of violence and blood shed on the inauguration/ swearing in of the Governor-elect, Prince Dapo Abiodun as they have been putting measures in place to see to ensure a peaceful conduct.
The transport workers union also made it known to the committee that members of their union have been warned to shun violence.
VOA News Correspondent gathered that there has been tussle as to who will be endorsed as the State Chairman of the Transport Union, which has formed part of the agitation for May 29th.
Barrister Mrs. Abimbola Lanre Balogun, a member of the committee in an interview with VOA News correspondent said the committee saw need to have the meeting with the executives of the main transport workers union and the factional aspect in order to ensure peace and order on the inauguration day.
“The committee for Transport Union under the Transition committee on Governance and Structures saw need that this peace talk hold as rumour of violence has been circulating. This is the reason we have gathered here today. The main transport workers union and the factional aspect have been called in for a peace treaty. consequently, we are confident that come May 29th, Ogun state will experience a peaceful handover.” She said.
She therefore appealed to the union to be tranquil as Prince Dapo Abiodun has not endorsed anybody as the State Chairman of the Transport Union. Hence, there should not be an uproar amongst them as the Governor will make his own statement and do the right thing at the right time.
Alhaji Samsondeen Apelogun, State Chairman of ACOMORAN in Ogun State, in an interview with VOA News, assured that there will be peace on the inauguration day and beyond so the committee and the member of the public have nothing to fear.
“Members of our union are law-abiding citizens as such there is no need be afraid of violence eruption or misconduct from our part. I also want member of the public to debunk the rumour of blood shedding on inauguration day as members of our union are peace loving people and we are ready to give the Governor-elect, Prince Dapo Abiodun our support during and after the inauguration.” He reiterated.

Hon. Aina Akinpelu, Secretary of the committee for Transport union while speaking with VOA News Correspondent, said the peace conference was as a result of the agitations amongst transport union in Ogun State. He added that the committee saw need to call for a peace talk with the executives of the union.
“Prince Dapo Abiodun, the Governor-elect of Ogun State being a peace loving individual insisted that as part of the preparation towards his inauguration on May 29th, which also happens to be his birthday that there should be a peace talk between the factions in the Transport union. The effort being put together today is to have a hitch-free inauguration.” He said.

The peace conference was well attended by the Executives and selected representatives of the six Transport Union in operation in Ogun State; NURTW, RUTNI, ACOMORAN, AMORAN, TORAN and TURAN.
