Diversion Of Captain Davies Road In Ejila Awori: Monarch Petitions Ogun Governor, Registers Displeasure

The Onikogbo of Ikogbo land, HRM Oba Engr. Nurudeen Osoja has, in a letter written to Ogun state Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, registered his displeasure over plans by the Management of Ogun Guangdong Free Trade Zone to divert the construction of 4.5km Captain Davids road in Ejila Awori.

Oba Osoja, who wrote Prince Dapo Abiodun through his lawyer, Falana and Falana’s Chambers, told the Governor that the diversion, if successfully carried out by Ogun Guangdong Free Trade Zone, will lead to ‘break down of law and order in the community as youths have threatened to resist the forceful diversion and closure of the road’.

“The threat of the Management of the Ogun Guangdong Free Trade Zone constitutes a serious threat to law and order as the youths in the Community have sworn to resist the forceful closure of the said Road”. The letter read in part.

Recall that VOA News had earlier written a report on the alleged attempt by the Management of Ogun Guangdong Free Trade Zone in connivance with some members of the community to divert construction of the popular Captain Davids road which had been penned since over 5 decades ago to link Ejila Awori, Igbesa and other Awori communities with Lagos state, if constructed.

Meanwhile, the highly referred monarch, Oba Nurudeen Osoja has written to the state governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun through his counsel, Falana and Falana chambers to use his good office to call the Management of Ogun Guangdong Free Trade Zone to order, He also urged him to ensure immediate commencement of the road construction to avoid break down of law and order.

“In the light of the foregoing we have the instructions of our clients to request Your Excellency to use your good offices to call the Management of the Ogun, Guangdong Free Trade Zone in order to avoid any breach of the peace in the Community. Our clients have absolute confidence in Your Excellency’s determination to ensure that peace reigns supreme in the Community in particular and Ogun State in general. Our clients have also asked us to request Your Excellency to ensure the resumption of work on the Ejila-Awori Road”.

VOA News also reliably gathered that the Management of Ogun Guangdong Free Trade Zone had been cautioned by the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure in a letter dated 1st of July, 2020 not to divert or close down the road. An order which the Management of the Chinese firm has flagrantly flouted as they have stopped the road construction.

It is also gathered that some people, who might have been bought over are working at cross purposes by do playing the cards of the Chinese firm against the interest of the people of Ejila Awori, Ikogbo, Igbesa and other neighboring communities.
