Fake Lawyer Who Uses His Wife’s Gown To Practice Bags 3-Years Jail Term In Abeokuta
A 47- year-old identified as Omotola Ayokanmi has been sentenced to three years imprisonment for impersonation.
Ayokanmi was arraigned before a Federal High Court in Abeokuta on July 16 for unlawfully presenting himself as a legal practitioner.
Ayokanmi was accused of appearing before the federal high court as a counsel to move an application for bail.
Fortune Akhenegor, a police inspector and the prosecution counsel said;
“The judge found fault in his address to the court which made the judge interrogate him.
“He later confessed that he only had a diploma in law and had never been called to the bar. He confessed that he had been using his wife‘s gown who was called to bar in 2006, but not practicing. The defendant has been practicing since 2007.”
Akhenegor said the offense contravened section 484 of the criminal laws of Ogun, 2006.
Ayokanmi pleaded guilty to the charges.
He was sentenced to three years in prison without an option of fine by Folake Ogundele, the presiding magistrate
