Govt, Foundation Partner To Tackle Child Abuse
The Lagos State Office of the Public Defender has expressed willingness to partner with all well-meaning individuals and foundations to tackle sexual and domestic abuse among children.
The Director of OPD, Mrs Olubunmi Adesomoju, disclosed this, according to a statement on Tuesday, during the visit of members of the Ceceyara Foundation to the OPD head office in Surulere.
Adesomoju said, “The OPD will not relent in its efforts to continue to forge mutually beneficial relationships with organisations capable of promoting its mandate to bring reprieve and succour to victims of abuse in Lagos State.
“The office will work round the clock to ensure that perpetrators of such violence are brought to book and the menace is extensively curbed in Lagos State in line with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s THEMES agenda on security and good governance for people of the state.”
In her address, the leader of the Ceceyara Foundation delegation, Mrs Detutu Ajibodu, said, “The foundation has always enjoyed cooperation with the OPD, and the visit was to renew the existing working relationship and strengthen future collaborations for improved services to children who suffer from domestic and sexual abuse in Lagos.”
