Gowon Seeks God’s Intervention For Nigerians To Overcome Insecurity

A former military head of state in Nigeria, Gen. Yakubu Gowon(Rtd), has sought divine intervention for Nigeria to overcome the problem of insecurity in the country.

The former military president who spoke on Sunday in his capacity as the National Chairman of ‘Nigeria Prays’ said the many cases of insecurity in the country is a huge cause of concern to all Nigerians.

Gen. Gowon while speaking at the one-day prayer rally held in Bauchi, said the prayer rally was to seek God’s intervention on issues of  terrorist called Boko Haram attacking Nigerians, especially attacking the North- East zone.

“Lord, on behalf of Nigerians, we bring confession of the needless bloodshed, killings and attacks by the Boko-Haram insurgencies, banditry and the spate of kidnappings and all kinds of evil in various parts of Nigeria.

“We beg for your forgiveness, mercy and cleansing of our country faced with numerous challenges.

He called all faithful christians and other religions in the country to pray unto God to intervene and find solution to Nigeria’s problems.

“We pray that the land of Bauchi and the entire North East zone shall receive God’s divine visitation and deliverance from insurgency.

Gowon prayed, “May this war of insecurity end in Borno, Adamawa, Taraba, Gombe, Yobe, Bauchi and indeed in the whole country.”
