Celebration set to hold by June as the Olota of Ota,
HEM Prof. Abdukabir Adeyemi Obalanlege, MCIPR, FHEA today marks his one year ascension to the throne as the 21st Olota of Ota.
The Chairman, planning committee, Mr. Fola Akinde made this known today during a press conference held at the palace of Olota to kick start the activities marking his 1st year on the throne.
According to Mr. Fola Akinde, the first year of Oba Adeyemi Obalanlege on the throne of his ancestors has been characterized by various developmental events ranging from the upgrading of the four high Chiefs from Ijana, Otun, Osi and Oruba to the status of coronet Obas vis a vis; the launching of a billion Naira legacy project; OLOTA FECODEIN (Olota Foundation For Economic and Development).
The chairman further added that due to the on-going Ramadan Fast, the anniversary has been divided into two phases. The first phase will have Kabiyesi observing Jumat at the Olohugbebe mosque on Friday, and a thanksgiving program at the Cathedral of St. James, Ota on Sunday. While the second phase marks the funfair which commences immediately after the Ramadan fasting.
The Second Phase Of The Program Will Start 19th June, the Olota will go out on a visit to Ijamido Children Home, the State hospital, Ota, a lecture on history of Ota will be held at the Local Government Hall, Ota on the same day, Time: 8.00am, 9.00am and 10.00am respectively.
On the 20th of June marks the cultural day at the Olota’s Palace which will be characterized by the performance of diverse masquerades scheduled to commence at 10.00am.
On the 21st of June, Homage paying by clubs, dance groups, etc at the Olota’s Palace which will commence by 10.00am.
On the 22nd of June is the Grand Finale day at the Ijamido City Hall, Ota, by 10.00am with music by Yinka Ayefele and the Merry makers band.
The coronation anniversary committee hereby call on all sons, daughters and friends of Ota, Awori Kingdom to join in the celebration of its rich cultural values. VOA News gathered.
