The Hon. Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in Ogun State, Hon. Chief Jide Ojuko has been allegedly arrested by men of Department for States Security DSS somewhere around Fan milk in Ota, Ogun state.
VOA News correspondent gathered that Hon. Ojuko was returning from his polling unit when he was accosted by men of DSS. His personal assistant, Kazeem Ejalonibu was questioned for several minutes while Chief Jide Ojuko refused to come out from his car. Chief Ojuko was said to be in company of former House of Reps member, Hon. Remi Babawale as at when they were accosted.
Our source told VOA News that his car was searched for several minutes.
Howbeit, the long minute search may be unconnected to him being in possession of electoral materials.
However, the arrival of Chairman of Local Government Service Commission, Hon. Rotimi Rahman (Arugbo) reportedly rescued Chief Jide Ojuko from the embarrassment as his intervention prevented the DSS officials from arresting him. The trio of Hon. Rotimi Rahman, Chief Ojuko and men of DSS were reported to drive off from the scene to an unknown destination.
Our correspondent has been trying to reach the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs to confirm the authenticity of the story.
