“Our Administration Has Plans To Empower The Youths”- Deputy Gov. Elect, Engr. Dr. Mrs Noimot Oyedele-Salako

The Deputy Governor elect, Engineer Dr. Mrs Noimot Oyedele-Salako has reiterated their administration’s commitment to empower as many youths as possible during their tenure in office.

She said this while during the 2019 edition of Skills and Talents Academy (SKATA) held at Ota on Friday.

The scheme, SKATA which was put together by the Ado-Odo/ Ota Federal House of Representatives candidate of Accord party in the last election, Hon. Asiwaju Abayomi graduated over 200 youths that were empowered via various skills acquisition, viz; photography, make-up, TV presentation, fashion designing, among several others.

While speaking with VOA Entertainment correspondent on the need for youths empowerment, the initiator of the program, Hon. Abayomi said the program was initiated to build the capacity of the youths on skills and talents in order for them to be useful for themselves and the society.

“We realized most of our youths has hidden potentials which could be converted to talent when harnessed, He added that the youths need a motivator, that is why we came up with this scheme so as to help build their capacity and mold their skills”.

He said this year’s is the second edition and that the scheme is targeted at empowering as many youths as possible in different skills. “This is the season two of SKATA and we believe we would continue by God’s grace.”

He further explained that three best students in each department would be awarded and given more opportunity that could help sustain their future.

He advised youths to identify their potentials, put them into use and be prepared for opportunities that may arise.

In an interview with the Deputy Governor elect in Ogun State, Engr. Dr. Mrs Noimot Oyedele-Salako, said that her administration has the intention of empowering youths so as to prevent them from idleness.

“Our incoming administration has it in mind to empower the youths of Ogun State to keep the idle ones busy. We will support schemes as this so as to give our youths a better future.”

She also advised the youths to work assiduously in order to make their dreams come true.

One of the facilitators, Mark Loveth who spoke with our correspondent, explained how hectic it was to nurture youths; especially those who have not gotten the experience of such skill before the program and also said she had found it interesting touching
people’s lives with what she knows. She advised youths to always remember that no one is empty, God has planted potentials in them to initiate.

In a separate interview with one of the participators, Mosunmola Naomi who was trained as a television presenter. she admonished the youths to turn their passion to skills. “The knowledge I acquired here has guided and groomed me on what I have been doing before, and my advise to the youth is to try as much as possible to turn their talents to skills”.

Another participant, Ismail Ademola, said that he has learnt what he never knew in the past through the program. He however, promised to consolidate on what he has learnt.

Olatunde Ogunyomi who was also a participant in photography said that he was able to recognize through SKATA program that no youth is a waste except for the lazy ones. He implored the initiators to keep the flag flying as God is a faithful rewarder.

The program was well attended with dignitaries spanning through political cum entertainment sectors. Some of whom were; Duputy Governor Ogun State, Eng. Mrs Noimat Salako, Honorable representing Ota State constituency 1 at the Ogun state House of Assembly, Hon. Aina Akinpelu, Hon. Opajobi, Alhaji Bola Yusuf, among many others.
