Prominent Lagosians Seek Dissolution Of Lekki Tollgate
Some prominent Lagosians have called for the immediate scrapping of the Lekki tollgate in Nigeria’s commercial capital, Lagos state. The prominent Lagosians including Chief Alaba Williams, Bashorun Jaiye Randle, Ade Dosunmu, and Chief Adesunbo Onitiri.
The motive of the move is to alleviate the economic burden of residents and ease free-flow of traffic in the area.
The move comes weeks after the deadly shooting at the facility by men in military uniforms who shot at peaceful protesters.
Recall that a right activist, Kenechukwu Okeke has filed a lawsuit in Abuja Magistrates’ court, challenging about fifty Nigerians for their roles in the recently concluded protests in Lagos.
Some of those challenged included; ex Super Eagles star, Kanu Nwanko, right activists, Aisha Yesufu, Deji Adeyanju, pop artists, Yemi Alade, David Adeleke (Davido), Tiwa Savage, a cleric, Sam Adeyemi, among others.
