Stop Impersonating Govt Officials, Badagry LG Chairman Warns Residents

The Chairman, Badagry Local Government, Mr Olusegun Onilude on Tuesday warned residents of the town against impersonating government staff in the town.

Onilude said in a statement by Mr Sunday Sewedo, his Special Assistant on Media, that some residents were collecting unlawful taxes from motorists pretending to be staff of the council.

He said the warning became imperative “Following the outcry by motorists on the emergence of a squad forcefully collecting upward of N25, 000 for “Carriage Waste Permit” from motorists in the area.

The chairman decried the act in strong terms saying that no permission has been given out to any staff of the council or any authorised agency to collect carriage waste permit on behalf of the council

“If there is anything of such, it is criminal and the perpetrators will be made to face the wrath of the LAW.

He said “The public are enjoined to report any form of unlawful collections to the Chairman’s office at the council Secretariat, Ajara-Badagry.”

Onilude said that anybody caught would be handed over to the security agent for prosecution.

He urged the residents to support him in order to rid the society of bad eggs.
