The gale of killings and acts of terrorism in Idoleyin axis of Ado-Odo/Ota local government area of Ogun state is gathering momentum with the latest abduction of a peasant farmer, Joel Abisoye at Arubielu village, Ado-Odo, Ogun state.
VOA News had earlier reported that a Special Police Crack team detailed to carry out investigation into the ‘abduction’ of Mr Musibau, a.k.a Long and his friend, Akinlolu, a.k.a Stainless who were allegedly murdered by notorious hirelings from Idoleyin and Ilegbemu villages was fiercely resisted with ray of bullets which forced the Police team to bow to superior sporadic shootings by Eguns.
Some of the suspects in the killings of Musibau and Akinlolu were recently arraigned before an Ota High Court.
Our source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity said, ‘bandits from Tholeyin were fingered in the latest conspiracy of alleged gruesome killing of Joel Abisoye who was whisked away by notorious boys from Idoleyin since March 5, 2020 to an unknown destination after several machete cuts and bodily injuries on the victim by his Egun kinsmen’.
While the matter was reported to the Police for necessary action, people are worried that Tholeyin terror groups are embolden to commit further lawless acts. VOA News correspondent gathered.
Feelers have it that their masterminds, Mr Hunno Joshua Danfosu Kuruyo and Mr Idowu Hopo are hell bent on sponsoring further terror attacks in the area as the former would do everything at his disposal to remain as ‘illegal traditional ruler’ which is neither recognized by the chieftancy laws of Ogun state nor accepted by the royal family of Oba Adegba Esibi and the approval of Olofin of Ado-Odo, HRM Oba Lateef Adeniran Akanni.
Our investigating team at Yewa Traditional Council and Ado-Odo /Ota local government area confirmed that Hunno Joshua Danfosu Kuruyo and his cohorts had at no time received statutory approval as traditional ruler in Ogun state but purely a ‘self imposed traditional’ ruler who flouts the laws of the state.
Efforts by our correspondent to hear from the self styled ‘traditional ruler’ and an appellant in pending consolidated appeal cases CA/IB/244/2017 between him, H.J.D KURUYO & 60 others Vs B.A. ADEKUNLE 14 Others and J.D KURUYO & Others Vs AJIBOLA & Others in CA/1B/243/2017 proved abortive for security reasons.
Recall that Hunno J D Kuruyo has been parading himself as a ‘traditional ruler of Idoleyin’. One of such cases was in an interview he granted the Vanguard newspaper in March. Moreso, on Faaji Fm aired Yoruba programme titled ‘Mimi Aiye’ very recently.
The family of Joel Abisoye said the perpetrators and their sponsors must be brought to book to serve as a deterrent to others.
