Toll Gate Fire Incident: Olota Describes Incident As Unfortunate, Commiserates With Victims

The Arole Iganmode and Olota of Ota, HRM Oba (Prof.) Adeyemi Obalanlege has described the inferno that occurred at Toll gate, along the Lagos/Abeokuta express way, in the early hours of this morning,  as an unfortunate event not just to the good people of Ota and to the nation at large.

In a press statement released by the Personal Assistant to the Olota of Ota, Prince Olusesi Sulaimon, he said that ‘Olota swung into immediate action as the news of the unfortunate fire incident got to the palace in the early hours of today (around 1:00am). A team led by the Onikotun of Otun-Ota,HRH Oba Abdulhakeem Odunaro was immediately dispatched to the scene to join other emergency response agencies in ensuring that the victims of the fire incident were rescue without delay’.

Oba Adeyemi commended the swift response of the men of the State Fire Service in conjunction with the TRACE personnel, officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps and other well meaning Nigerians whose prompt interventions salvaged the ugly situation.

According to Prince Olusesi, he said that the Olota-in-Council have equally visited the scene early this morning around 9:00am to carry out an on-the-spot assessment of the incident and set in motion additional rescue mechanisms aimed at providing succor to the affected victims of the fire incident.

“The council urged government at all levels to investigate the remote and immediate causes of the incident in order to find a lasting solution to the frequent loss of lives and property at the Toll Gate area and to forestall a recurrence”. He said.

Olota, further called for support and prayers for the victims of the inferno and prayed that God grants peaceful repose to the souls of the deceased.
